OVERVIEW
If you’re looking for a solid, track level boot for dedicated track days or strong street protection the Vertigo 2’s won’t disappoint.
True to Sidi tradition, they’ll offer similar fit to the previous version. I loved mine until I had to use them 4 years ago. As a casual track day rider, and someone who wants more than minimum levels of protection on the street, I love what the Sides have to offer.
But they may not be the right boot for you if the fitment doesn’t work for your feet. I’ve worn Alpinestars, Sidis and Dainese women’s track boots. Unfortunately, I find Sidis to be the least comfortable at this point.
I do love the features, and I think if you are a Sidi person that you will really love the new features including the upgraded ankle and achilles tendon support:
I like these protection upgrades, they push the Vertigos closer to that of a competition level race boot. Right now, in this category there are 2 other competitors: Dainese Torque Out and Alpinestars SMX Plus, both offered in women’s versions. It’s tremendous to see brands like Sidi offer an option that is perhaps the least popular to the majority of women riders out there. Given the fact that most women choose cruisers and of the women that do have sport bikes, very few of them are doing track days.
One of the biggest changes is the calf adjustment. Here are a few photos of the older Vertigos with the previous calf adjustment:
And pics of the new adjustments:
Not a huge change, just different placement from the back to the side. You might be wondering about the calf opening and if it’s any larger than the previous version. I couldn’t tell the difference, but I also didn’t have calves large enough to where they weren’t accommodating. Mine measure about 14.5” around the fullest part of the calf muscle.
FITMENT
To be totally honest, I only wore them a couple times. Mainly because the toe box is too narrow. I’ve spent about an hour in them total. Although I used to wear the older Vertigos, my feet seem to have gotten wider since I’ve aged… :-(
