One Piece Textile Suit for Women
Do you know who makes the only fully custom one piece suit specially designed for women riders?
How are my leathers supposed to fit?
Another great reader question about leathers.
“Hey, Love your site, I’m new to bikes and it’s helped me loads when picking the right gear! I just bought a set of leathers from ebay (risky for sizing but I have textiles in the same brand and they fit) the thing is the leather is really quite tight. I can get them on and zipped up but walking seems like an effort! Are they supposed to be so fitted? Or will they loosen off with use? Or should I have gone up a size?!” – Kristen
They should definitely fit very snug. If you’re having trouble walking upright, that’s probably the right fit
Ideally, your one piece suit is fitted and designed for riding position only. It assumes that you’ll be spending most of the time on the bike. If you’re riding a sportbike, then it definitely will be more comfortable on the bike than off.
You can tell if it’s too tight if you can’t inhale/exhale comfortably, or if there’s pinching or pulling under the armpits and around the crook of your elbow and behind your knees.
A photo of you on your bike would help greatly, but it sounds like you’ve found the right fit if it’s a brand new suit and hasn’t been broken in yet. If you’re buying a set of used leathers that someone has definitely broken in, then in that case, I could see the suit not being the right size or fit.
Unfortunately, leathers are quite uncomfortable until they’re fully broken in, but hopefully after you’ve spent some time making them feel like second skin, you’ll love spending every minute in them.
Good Luck!
1 Piece Leather Women’s Motorcycle Suits
It can be extremely difficult to find an off the rack 2 piece leather suit that fits, let alone a 1 piece.
Most dealers can’t afford to stock a full size run of women’s suits, so it’s even harder for them to justify stocking full size runs. It’s a catch 22, how do we buy more of them when there’s not enough to try on in some dealerships?
But I know you’re out there. I’ve compiled a list of off the rack Women’s race suits that are currently on the market, from some of my favorite manufacturers who continue to devote full lines of protective gear for women. I’ve listed these in alphabetical order, by brand.
Dainese, AlpineStars and GiMoto all offer 2 piece leather suits that will zip together to create a 1 piece but I’m excluding them from this list. If you want to know what 2 piece options exist, just visit the manufacturer website.
I guess my next bit of homework is to make a list of 2 piece leather recommendations….
If I missed any suits, Please post a comment and let us know what you have and where you bought it!

The darker black areas are stretchy panels. A friend of mine has this suit and something that she didn’t expect is the freedom of movement um, down around the groin. The panels that appear darker black in the photo above are stretchy. So when you’re wearing the suit, the lower half doesn’t feel as restricted as in a regular pair of leather pants. If you’re riding a sportbike, I can see how this would help make the suit feel more comfortable, particularly during a track day.

Foreplay.
- Gorgeous day in San Francisco, birds chirping, sun shining, perfect riding weather ✔
- Male, average build, tall-ish, on a motorcycle ✔
- Arai XD helmet ✔
- Aerostitch one piece, fairly new, red ✔
- Full fingered leather gloves of some kind, Helds, Racers or AlpineStars ✔
- Ducati Multistrada, brand spankin’ new, 992cc desmodue engine, air-cooled with two valves per cylinder, naked from the waist down, showing off everything it has to offer. ✔
- Now I’m all hot and bothered, wishing I were on my bike, not stuck in my car
And what do I see? LOAFERS. UGLY, DARK RED LOAFERS WITH TASSLES!
Tassles?? Really?
You went to all that trouble, shelled out fifteen grand on a bike, helmet, a one piece and then you finish off with LOAFERS?
Ugh, men.
Sneak Peak, anyone?
New for Fall 2008!
Looks like Black/White is the new hot color for ladies this winter. Adding to the 1-piece suits that Dainese (Yu Suit) and Spidi (Lady Lizard) have put out, Teknic is also throwing this one into the mix. I think I like this style the best so far. The Viper Suit is going to turn heads, that’s for sure. Now if I could only think of a really good reason why I need this……..
